JUTE
Jute fibre is traditionally used for manufacture of packaging materials/items through a number of processing steps including spinning and weaving. Severe competition in the area of packaging has led to intensify the search for new outlets of jute products. Advantageous properties (agro-based, eco-friendly, biodegradable, high strength, low extensibility, adequate thermal stability, sound insulation, cost effective etc.) of jute fibre needs to be exploited for its sustenance in global market
The use of agro-based biodegradable jute fibres is being renewed in the rising appreciation of ecological and environmental concerns at present. Jute fibre has a future; in fact the future may even belong to jute. The fibre finds its application in the area of geotextiles, agricultural textiles, technical textiles, composite materials and other industrial applications. The development of lighter and better jute fabrics create new market for the raw material (jute fibre), which is supplementing packaging products and become an important raw material in many industrial sectors.
